Maoko Project is my global creative studio and consultancy integrating art, education, wellness, performance, and movement to design cultural and learning experiences across Boston, Africa, and the global diaspora.
I work across schools, institutions, and community spaces to create programs that support Social Emotional Learning (SEL), leadership development, creative expression, and collective well-being.
At its core, Maoko Project is a way of working—where art, story, body, and learning are connected as one practice of transformation.
🧠MAOKO METHOD™
At the center of Maoko Project is the Maoko Method™, a culturally grounded, trauma-informed framework rooted in Ndau language and African philosophical traditions.
It is the guiding methodology through which I design all my work across education, performance, facilitation, wellness, and cultural practice.
The Maoko Method™ is both philosophy and practice—it shapes how spaces are created, how learning is facilitated, and how people engage with themselves and each other.
🌿 THE FIVE PRINCIPLES
The Maoko Method™ is guided by five directive principles:
Reketa — Speak (voice, expression, truth)
Terera — Listen (presence, awareness, deep hearing)
Shanda nesimba — Work with effort (discipline, embodiment, practice)
Simudzira — Uplift (collective growth, leadership, care)
Rudo — Care (compassion, belonging, relational healing)
These principles are not abstract ideas—they are lived practices that shape how learning environments are built and how people are supported to engage fully.
🌱 HOW THE MAOKO METHOD™ IS USED
The Maoko Method™ is applied across educational, cultural, and community settings, including Social Emotional Learning (SEL) spaces in schools and institutions.
It is used to design:
SEL and arts-based learning programs
Educator and leadership training
Creative facilitation and storytelling experiences
Embodied learning through movement and voice
Workshops that support reflection, communication, and emotional awareness
Across all of these contexts, the Maoko Method™ supports people in building resilience, strengthening relationships, and experiencing belonging through culturally grounded learning.
🌍 PRACTICE CONTEXT
Maoko Project is the structure through which I bring together my work as a cultural strategist, educator, and performance artist.
It connects my work across:
education systems
cultural institutions
public health and community spaces
performance and creative practice
embodied and movement-based learning.
✨ CORE BELIEF
Maoko Project is grounded in the belief that:
learning is embodied, culture is essential, and transformation happens through relationship, voice, and practice.
